When The Cat's Away...The Mice Will Play
Angela and Joseph leave town for vacation, instructing their nosy neighbor to
Keep an eye on their daughter Maria while they are traveling to Rhodes for the week. Louis, Maria's boyfriend Nick, has learned of the parents' absence and decides to take a long bus ride back to Rome to finally be with Maria, whom he misses dearly. Maria is very excited that her parents are away on vacation. Her parents are very strict and still treat her like a child, never allowing her to have any company at her villa when they are away.
Maria prepares for Nick’s arrival and a small party they plan on having. Nick meets her and they go for lunch near the Spanish Steps before the guest start arriving. Afterwards, at Maria's house, preparations are made and drinks are brought out to celebrate the occasion. As everyone's getting tipsy, the dancing begins. Someone knocks into the favorite vase of Maria’s mother, sending it tumbling to t he ground where it smashes!
The watchful neighbor' Lucille hears a commotion and decides to go with her buddy Charlotte and investigate what happened at the house. After the neighbor and her friend see what happened to the vase they help Maria and Louis mend it with superglue. After their handiwork, they figure Maria’s near-sighted mother will never notice the cracks. Crises averted, Maria and Louis offer the ladies some Sangria and invite them to stay for the jazz band that’s just getting started in gratitude for not revealing the incident to her mother. When the parents get back home they don’t even realize that their prized possession has been damaged.
Design provides people with means to communicate. Activist designers are using publishing and “reverse engineering” to draw attention to political and ecological issues. With the rise of blogging over the past three years, the internet has become an open arena that invites anyone to participate and become an author. In this new age of social design and social media, citizens want to build and customize their own tools and technologies to communicate their own ideas. Museum of Design
